Maryland High School Students Shot, One Killed During Popeyes Lunch Break

One high school student is dead after five students were reportedly shot outside of the Popeyes at Edmondson Village Shopping Center in Baltimore during their lunch break, reports WMAR 2 News.

One victim, a 16-year-old, died from his injuries. The others, each of whom are between 17 and 18-years-old, are still being treated for injuries in the hospital. Edmondson West High School was placed on lockdown following the shooting, although police do not believe the shooting was connected to any school related confrontation, the outlet continues.

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott spoke about the incident, stating that the community should not be so "weak" about dealing with basic disputes or feelings of disrespect in a responsible way. Police had reportedly patrolled the location of the shooting just minutes before the shooting occurred. Currently, police have no potential motive or leads on the suspects.
